Anime Boston Announcement, Artist Rage, Etc.

Just thought I'd mention that Sunny the giant crocheted chocobo is available for sale over at the Etsy shop.

Long story short: No Anime Boston this year. Or possibly next year. Maybe never again. Ha ha. /dramatic

For the slightly less short story, let's use a pseudo-equation: Artist's Alley table prices doubling + all Boston hotels figuring out they can shaft everybody by charging around $100 more because PAX East is on the same weekend + new tax laws that require a tax ID but are completely unclear about what happens afterward and what long-term affects it has on businesses or individuals = nope. (Which doesn't even take food or badge into account.) And there's this happy little clusterfuck on the forums, which does actually explain some things... and raises roughly 300 more questions. (I want it to be clear that I'm not raging against AB staff. Well, much. *grin* I understand that tax laws changing and hotels being dicks are kind of completely out of their control, and if it were just a table fee increase then it wouldn't have been a big deal. But.)

So... yeah, that kind of sucks. Then again it's hard to complain about not tearing the shit out of my hands and wrist (and arms and knees and back and neck at the con). I mean, good has come of this, and will continue to do so. There's talk of another stunningly dangerous sale-like event. And I'm going to make a little rainbow chocobo for a give-away of some sort. I may still take a week's vacation to be totally stupidly irresponsible and just play video games all day and night, because I desperately need that.

I've been having some thoughts, though. (I know, always dangerous.) Instead of chocobos (I'm sure I'll get to more of them, as well), maybe I should focus on little crocheted dragons. Little, I said. As in, affordable. As in, will not cause me quite as severe hand pain as this fella. Well of course he was worth it, but still, ow. We shall see.

Not to worry, this isn't exactly a setback. Work goes on, and I have a lot to do. Kotetsu in plush form will release at the end of the month (though I won't get him until the end of February... no EMS on anything for a while). And, ah... I may have invested in some quality Japanese pornart. qlapz will be the death of me, I swear. Alas, I shall never justify spending that much on a pillowcase. Still... it'd be worth it.
