Time holds so little meaning these days. I don't think that's because of getting older. It's more likely because I spend weeks at a time putting thousands of tiny beads or hundreds of stitches of yarn together. Shudder-worthy. Anyway. 2011 meme stolen unceremoniously from various online places that probably don't want me linking back to them.
1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Geez, why start with a hard question? Um... fought claw and fang for a fucking pre-order, I guess. I didn't even know that was possible before this year. Such an exciting life I lead!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't see the point in resolutions, personally. If you want something to change, change it. Waiting for a special day to do so is a cop-out.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
...Not that I know of, so... that'd be a no..? Unless you mean aliens leaping out of their stomachs. A few of those every year.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My grandfather. That's still a little... weird. I mean, we haven't been close for quite some time, but he was quite the interesting individual. It's very sad to think of how quiet my grandmother's house must be now, honestly.
5. What countries did you visit?
Only the US and the ones in my mind. They are free to travel to. Supposedly.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Common sense. Time. Always more time. I'm aware that won't happen, though, which seems important. Doesn't mean I can't wish for it.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
...Apparently none. I'm shit at dates, though.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

FiSele! Holy shit, 30 days of work.
9. What was your biggest failure?
...Spending 30 working days (and untold days off) on a single project..? Frankly, I have no idea. But so long as it's a spectacular failure, I don't care.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
That's a shit question to ask me. *grin* Besides my eyes getting enough tiny surface cuts to prevent me from wearing contacts for a very long time, same as usual.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
You can't possibly ask me to pick favorites.
12. Where did most of your money go?
Ha ha. Ha. Ha. Okay, let's see, from memory... a few geeky t-shirts, socks, underwear, slippers, Rinzler, Dissidia Firion, Dissidia Sephiroth, a massive amount of Tron diecast figures at a massive discount, Vinylmation Rinzler, the SDCC Tron statue, Figma KOS-MOS, Tron and Sark Kubricks, NECA Tron, the very very pink knock-off Barbie bar, Play Arts Kai Dissidia Squall, Nendoroid Tachikoma, Figuarts Wild Tiger, Figuarts Barnaby Brooks Jr., an official "Let's believe HEROES" neck strap, and a Chibiterasu plush. Admittedly, it has been an awesome fucking year for toys, and I worked my ass off and my fingers raw for each one so yeah, I'm happy about everything I was able to afford.
It's not like it was all toys, either. I got a hell of a lot of supplies, most of them on sale, and a few extra display pieces, so. I'm only 99.9% irresponsible.
13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
...Toys. *grin* Though I really don't think I'm capable of excitement. Not as most people seem to understand it.
14. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Can't quite decide between "The Power of Justice" or "Happy Synthesizer". Heh. Music doesn't really fit a year for me, though. More like a time period. I... don't think anything sums up this time period just yet.
15. Compared to this time last year, are you happier?
Could not answer that.
16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Stupidly? Possibly work. That's sort of impossible, though. I would like to get back to being able to play games more than one morning every few weeks, but we'll see if that happens anytime soon. On the sidelines about breath training... I'm usually just singing for myself these days, so a fussy diaphragm doesn't matter so much.
17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Feeling like crap, frankly, but not much to be done about that. I think I pulled through pretty well, despite it.
18. How did you spend Christmas?
Like I spend almost every Sunday: cleaning and then recovering from cleaning. Oh, and eating pizza and cheesecake! (Had fried rice on my birthday, instead.)
19. Did you fall in love in 2011?
My full answer would be ranty and way too long, so I'll just say that I haven't fallen in love any more or any less this year than last.
20. How many one-night stands?
*snort*
21. What was your favorite TV program?
Community was really the only thing I watched. There was some Big Bang Theory in there, too, but Community... speaks to me. Some day I'll catch up on The Venture Brothers, too.
22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Probably lots of people, yeah. *grin* None I can think of, though, so it hardly matters.
23. What was the best book you read?
The Fat Man on Game Audio: Tasty Morsels of Sonic Goodness by George "The Fat Man" Sanger, naturally. Yeah, sure it was a re-read but the book is really just that damn good.
24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
(Ăhk-to͝ong Ba͞y-bi) Covered (and downloadable, hint hint). Not a discovery as much as a delicious cover album of one of my favorites, U2's Achtung Baby. "Zoo Station" as done by Nine Inch Nails is worth the whole thing alone, but The Killers' "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)", Depeche Mode's "So Cruel" and Jack White's "Love is Blindness" are just as transcendent. Mmm.
25. What did you want and get?
*looks around* I got what I really wanted. And there's a pug who comes down and curls up with me every morning. This is good.
26. What did you want and not get?
A free pass to everything forever and ever, I guess. Woe is me. And everyone else.
27. What was your favorite film of this year?
...Um. I... have no idea. Good movies this year, huh?
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Same thing I usually do: worked until my hands refused to keep working. I was crocheting a giant chocobo, actually! *grin* 31 fucking years on this planet. Amazing. "The lines on your face are a map to your soul".
29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Taking a sledgehammer to various people. Sadly, there's a legal issue there.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
..."Wear what's in the drawer."
31. What kept you sane?
Highly overrated concept, sanity. But my friends are always there to remind me not to worry too much about being crazy.
32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Olivia Wilde in tight black shiny material and glowing lines. *grin* Still makes me all... yesssss. (And yet, she only gets to me as Quorra. This seems unfair.) And maybe Bruce Boxleitner. *snort* A man that age should not look so good.
33. What political issues stirred you the most?
I do not give a single shit for politics.
34. Who did you miss?
Everyone who's passed. That's sort of just how it is. There were a lot of things that happened this year that I wish I could have shared with Zellie, but I get the feeling she's enjoying them anyway.
35. Who was the best new person you met?
I met a lot of fun people through the insanity that is Tiger & Bunny! Picking one seems terrible. *grin*
36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
...Be careful when cleaning under the microwave because there's this huge, sharp piece of metal in a weird place for no reason and your hand is going to take three weeks to heal if you mess with it. I r so s-m-r-t.
37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"In hope I still believe, if nothing else"
38. Where did you begin 2011?
...Here..? Right at this computer, actually. *snort*
39. What was your relationship status by Valentine's Day?
Glorious. Divorced, and my ex-husband bought me wine.
40. Were you in school anytime this year?
Fuck no. *grin* I am... not one of those people who can stomach the institution. More power to you if you can; use it.
41. How did you earn your money?
Through hand pain and cursing? *cough* The only way I can, it seems; beaded jewelry, some clay/sculpture work, plush and crochet.
42. Did you have to go to the hospital?
Another year hospital free! I'm going to try to keep this up as long as I can, clearly.
43. Did you have any encounters with the police?
Not unless they're still deep under cover.
44. Would you relive 2011 over and over again?
Oh hell no.
45. What did you purchase that was over $1000?
Absolutely fucking nothing.
46. Did you know anybody who got married?
...Uh... um... maybe..? Which is sad, but... seriously. I don't think so.
47. Has anyone betrayed you in 2011?
If they did, you'd never know it. Heh.
48. Where do you live now?
In the US, eastern Massachusetts, in the downstairs of a split which feels much less like a basement than it used to. Exciting stuff, this.
49. What's something you thought you'd never do but did in 2011?
Spend 30 days working on one thing.
50. What has been your favorite moment?
That last minute or two of Tiger & Bunny, actually. I was invested, dammit. *grin* I don't want to jinx it, but the fandom has been incredible. ...And then there's "Black Tiger". Oh yes.
51. What's something you learned about yourself?
There comes a point when all personal safety is ignored for the sake of getting a little shit to back the fuck down. There are worse ways to die, but probably smarter ways to live. Eh, I am who I am. "Don't try to change me, baby", et all. *grin*
52. Were you in a relationship this year?
I assume the meaning is of a romantic nature and not in a heterosexual life partner way. *snort* Ahem. No, geez.
53. What music will you remember 2011 by?
I... probably won't.
54. Would you say you've changed since the beginning of this year?
Fundamentally? No. But in bits and pieces? Of course.
55. Do you think 2012 will be better or worse?
I have hope it will be better. It's been a lot worse, and this year wasn't exactly so bad, so... I won't worry either way. And if the world ends, well, it was a good run, yeah? *grin*
Now I am going to go catch up on some things, and finish the last of the chocolates before midnight. Tomorrow I will clean. Life continues.
Have a good year, everyone. Enjoy it to its fullest.
