Yes, this is an advertisement. Because I can. Lulu's got a 15% off sale going on until the end of the month. So you could, in theory, grab a copy of DarkHorse Vendetta if you like completely fucking insane space epic things, or Depth of the Rain if you're feeling up to some odd fantasy (I know, I know, there's no cover image yet; I actually have to think of one first). Of course I must also mention my friend Zellie Blake's book, Lightning Spliced, should you like tales of motley crews and not-quite-super powers. All proceeds of Zellie's book go to the American Cancer Society, because she was (and no doubt still is) magnificently awesome like that.
I so highly recommend Trollhunter (or The Troll Hunter, depending on where you see it). That just turned out to be so much more than I expected. Here's io9's write-up of it, but just watch the short trailer. If the sleeping giant or Colossi are of interest to you, you will probably enjoy this. (Also if you wanted to bitch-slap the Blair Witch kids.)
Hopefully I'll be able to get some more writing done, since I have an awful lot to do. (Not like it's a chore, obviously.) But for now... there's a little something I got for the boys that I need to assemble and stock. It should ease this whole "moving into the Barbie Dream House" thing.
So some links to entertain you, as I am currently incapable. The Smithsonian officially proclaims that video games are art--or at least these are. *grin* Yes, ladies and gents, FF7 made the list. Other games included that make me happy: flOw, Flower, Metal Gear1 & 2, MYST, Okami, Portal, Rez, Shadow of the Colossus (but no fucking Ico? really?), Star Fox, SimCity (original and 2000), the Panzer Dragoons, a slew of Super Marios Brothers games and a whole pile of Legend of Zelda titles. Yeah, I'd like to see LucasArts representation and a few other games that always seem to miss out on stuff like this, but for what was included... I think this is a great selection of titles to show what the medium is capable of and how it's evolved.
Alas, Modern War Gear Solid comes to an end. At least, for now. No hilarious Otacon moments this time around, but Snake makes up for it with his weapon of choice.
Almost an hour and a half of Erik Wolpaw's lecture at NYU Game Center. I haven't gotten to watch it yet, but I know it's going to be good, so enjoy. *grin*
Child of Eden concept art is drool-worthy and glowy as hell.
Robots develop altruism! We're saved! Until they figure out they can use us for food!
Keanu Reeves might be trying to dig his claws into another live-action movie based on an anime that shouldn't even have made it past the idea stage. Nevermind, robots, come get us now, there's nothing left to live for.
--Oh wait. If enough people want Evil Overlord Romance, then maybe everything will be just fine.
Sometimes there is something, seemingly simple, that soothes your heart and lifts your spirits and needs to be shared with as many people as possible. I am so glad this "little comic" exists. Pass it along, make an artist smile.
