So this morning something caught my eye on a message board:
Just got back from the Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. Met Bruce, got him to sign one of my discs. Asked about TRON 3 and if he knew anything... "Oh I know a lot."

"Can you tell me anything? When do the wheels officially start rolling?". "Next year I believe."

"Anyone coming back?".

"Well, I will say this...Cillian Murphy doesn't just do cameos!"
Yes, of course I want to believe. But I am very disappointed that apparently no one asked him what Tron's role would actually be in this movie. *grin* (In the end, I got this off a forum. Until it's confirmed in some official way, it's just a nice thought to have.)

If the possibility of this wire-wrapped commission becomes a reality (because everything else is going toward necessities, dammit), I just may have to give in and buy The Art of Tron: Legacy. *sigh* Combining concept art and Tron is kind of irresistible. Amazon's got it at an excellent price, anyway. I'm currently forsaking Dissidia 012 for Tron things, so you know I've been caught in a trap over here. *grin* (But Versus is still pre-ordered. Whenever it manages to be finished, Nomura. And then maybe KH3 someday before either of us die? Please?) Now if only the art book for the first movie weren't so rare and astonishingly expensive. Reprint? Anyone? Maybe?

Was making the attempt to remember when I first saw the original movie, too. I'm an old-timer, but I'm afraid I was way too young for the theater experience in '82. *grin* Memories of childhood are sparse to begin with, but I do clearly recall getting our first home computer (with an amber screen!) and not wanting to get too close to it because I distinctly remembered Flynn getting sucked into a computer. Oh those were the days. Of course since then I've gotten to know many computers... and they have all hated me except the Bitchbox, here. Vista hates me, and I hate it, and we both want each other to suffer--but the computer has been so good to me. *pets the CPU* Sadly I have not gotten sucked into a virtual world with a hot, glowy security program. Yet. (Working on it!)

...Anyway. I always had a fondness for the movie, as I've always had a fondness for science fiction and particularly things revolving around artificial intelligence (which Tron does and does not in equal measure, I think). My father is who I blame for that, subtly getting me into Star Wars when it was still Star Wars and not followed by some descriptive term like "the good ones", and the original Star Trek (as it gave me an appreciation of the simplicity of watching grown boys playing with toys in front of a camera), then Quantum Leap, Monsters, Amazing Stories, and surprisingly later, The Twilight Zone. I think you do have to be of a certain mindset to enjoy The Twilight Zone, though.

I was kind of trying to build up to the point that Tron certainly isn't just a father-son and/or fanboy experience, but given the nature of my gender identity, it just gets more complicated. PEOPLE WITH TITS LIKE IT TOO. There we go.

...Still want a 1/6 scale lightcycle without a rider, though. *mutters*

Saw Catfish. ...The trailer lies. *grin* I'm not saying don't see it, just... reconsider, because it's not nearly that interesting. Let me put it this way: if you've been on the internet for more than a couple of months, there's nothing shocking. There's no emotional roller coaster. There's just, "Yeah, that's... what happens. ...So... yeah."

Otherwise, I am tired. My morning was spent cleaning. Boo to cleaning. So let's drop a couple of links and pretend like I've been useful today. More info and screens for The Last Guardian. Mmmm.

Instead of linking to David Cage's actual talk at the GDC, I'm linking to Michael Abbott's interpretation of it. It seems to offer two interesting perspectives on Heavy Rain and storytelling vs mechanics of games in general. In case, you know, anyone else gives a damn. *grin* (I agree with some points and disagree with others; I'm still very much against saying that all of anything should ever take one specific path. ["I know what's right, and now you must follow me!" gets humanity into more stupid fucking trouble...] But it's interesting to see the paths taken and desires for the future.)

And finally, Goodnight Dune. Because... yes. Yes, very much.

Now I consider getting back to work early. Let's say I continue to consider until... oh, tomorrow morning.
