First off, Tron Legacy Ghost Rider made me laugh really hard. It causes an amusing kind of brain ache, you know?
Secondly, finally, Bluray listings for both Tron flicks are up on Amazon with prices but no release dates (though April 5 is "projected", depending on who you ask). Apparently DVDs will be available separately, but... they're just not listed yet for whatever reason. Anyway. I'd been looking at the "limited edition" combo pack. I'm still kind of annoyed that it doesn't come with a lightcycle. *grin* But... I did put my money where my mouth is, and that sucker is pre-orderedas I scramble to make sure I can definitely pay for it should it release before Anime Boston. (As is just me, apparently I ordered it just minutes after the pre-order went live last night.) The Rule of Orin Willingly Handing Over Money goes like this: you make me very happy, you get my money. Sadly this knocks the Toy Story trilogy out of possible range for yet a while longer, but... I'll get there.
I had a thought. Tron: Legacy is, for all intents and purposes, a sanctioned fan film. No, seriously. The original writer and director was involved, obviously, but it was the fans of his work, now in positions of power (from Legacy's director to the costume designer; a huge multitude of people working behind the scenes were fans of the original), who got the movie made. Again, I can totally understand this isn't everyone's thing, because it's not. It never was. But those rabid, foaming at the mouth vicious comments from people that I'm still trying to figure out whether or not they actually legitimately watched the movie or just hated the trailers... are those the same people who hate fan fiction just for the fact that it's fan fiction? *grin* I don't know, the thought just amused me. Some points about plot and story are valid, but... maybe I'm just too used to not having everything filled in for me through one work. There's a lot to be said for leading an audience by the hand, but I personally appreciate it more when you're lead to a point and allowed to wander. If that... made sense. (I'll always prefer the Jim Henson take; sometimes the hand leading you just disappears, but you always know that you're never really in danger.) This article I happened across yesterday suggests it could just be because I love Joseph Campbell. Hey, whatever, I still hope to see it again in IMAX 3D but... right now that depends on the weather and schedules.
Finally got my Rinzler shirt fixed, too. The shirt was a tent, and now the shirt is no longer a tent (but wow is that lighting horrible). Maybe I am justa skinny bitch supernaturally petite, but I don't think so.
Oh yeah, and for anyone actually interested (and who hasn't read it yet), I finally gave in and publicly admitted that Tron fanfic tempts me like no tomorrow and fuck, there goes another one. Haven't filled any kinkmeme prompts yet. ...............But there are a couple bookmarked. *sigh* So long as I get my work done first and don't make any of the louder muses jealous.
Hands resting, back/spine is protesting loudly for no damn reason, have pictures of another couple of chocobos to take still, hoping to catch up on a lot of things over the weekend, and... I would like some pretzels. *gets some pretzels* Alright then.
And links, because there's nothing left to talk about. *snort* Yay for LOOM getting some love.
Intriguing: Playing Video Games With Dad Builds Better Daughters. I know, what the fuck happened to me, then? *grin*
Are Angry Fans Really Ruining Video Games? playing into more than just angry game fans, believe me. But you cannot tell angry fans this.
But sometimes we are reminded that angry fans don't fucking matter, because some people are still willing to play into an amusing sense of wonder.
Old video (and yes, a little Tron leaked out, so sorry *grin*): Nathan Fillion at the Tron: Legacy premiere. Not linked to so much for that reason in itself (though the fact he immediately responds "LIGHTCYCLES!" made me happy), but because he makes older gamers feel absolutely ancient, yet amused.
Baby Skeletor is one of the best fucking things I have ever seen. Ever.
Somehow I think cats would make better psychotherapists than humans ever could.
Aaaaaaand scene.
