Day 1 of renovated apartment cleaning is over! ...*whimpers* Carpet got installed this morning. I started cleaning after lunch. Cleaning today was severely dumb. I woke up aching everywhere and it just got worse after exercise, so clearly breathing in chemicals for several hours was the best way to go. Predictably, the porphyria symptoms are already building (and oh how wonderful that the aches have become pains) and tonight and tomorrow are going to be hell--but the bulk of the work is actually done. Tomorrow I have to do the floors, appliances, and whatever other little odd jobs I can manage. And wait for the bulk of the necessary things to arrive. (Oven, bed, etc.) I got my little double burner, though. I still haven't actually opened it, but it's there. And that is the cleanest mother fucking shower ever.

Godhand. Seriously, what a disturbingly underrated game. Hard as fuck at times, but that's kind of part of the appeal--you find the rhythm of the fighting. It is a "beat the shit out of your opponents" game, but it's definitely above and beyond a lot of the genre. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a game that kept making it obvious that it wanted me dead, but it's just so much ridiculous fun. There are surprisingly serious elements, and then those get thrown out the window and it becomes a "Did that really just happen?" extravaganza. I know, I'm sure people will bitch about the graphics, the enormous amount of clipping, the glitching--but that is absolutely part of charm. And then you get these fucking demons out of completely nowhere and if you happen to activate the Godhand and pretty much run around and kick their ass at super-speed it is just astonishingly hilarious. Look for it. It's worth the price.
...And LOOM. I have no idea why there's so much animosity toward this game. Of course it didn't sell well--it's not about killing people, you don't get a gun, and SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER the ending is absolutely not happy, but hopeful. People beating down this title without so much as playing any version of it (and there are several--one even has voices!) is one of the elements that lead to LucasArts being afraid to take chances. Of course I understand why some people wouldn't like it, from the "games shouldn't have stories" crowd to the "not enough blood" crowd (of which really need to make it further in the game) to the "ew, I was accidentally taught a little bit of music theory!" people. I just wish people would give it a try before making the standard jokes.
If anyone's interested in any version of LOOM, just let me know. *cough*
Prompt list.
So now I'm going to do fuck all for a little while as I wait for the dizziness to die down... hopefully.

I laughed at that last one. Damn them for getting in the way of puzzle games involving chord progressions!

Some people just can't unsee Cfgc! ... *checks* Wow, that was by memory, too. Though I suppose it's more properly C'FGC. How exciting, I have learned something.
