Was getting back to writing DarkHorse last night (I'll finish it if it's the last thing I do... and it may be at this point), taking a spin through the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack. ..."Deadman's Gun" came up at an entirely too appropriate moment. Hit like a punch to the stomach. (But in a good way. Always a good way, even if it stings.) People have wondered in the past why I write with music playing. Sometimes it forces me to pick myself back up off the floor. This is good. Especially for writing Jack. The original woman named Jack, thank you. *grin* Regardless, highly recommend Red Dead Redemption's soundtrack. It's damn good. That is the only version of "Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie" that ever got an emotional response for me, and much deserving praise has been written about "Far Away". The rest is just interesting and good, some soft sound ad some driving beats and it makes me feel the need to bring the Trigun soundtrack back into constant rotation. Godhand's as well.
Anyway. Just happened to make enormous strides in finally bringing Jack's story to a close--though I suspect it won't be much of an ending the way she keeps fighting me. Sort of wondering if I shouldn't just keep picking for however long it takes and release the last (2? 3?) chapters at the same time. I think it's safe to assume that after this long, every single person who'd been reading has given up and moved on. Understood. But I never was writing for anyone but myself. Granted as soon as it's finished it needs a massive overhaul in a great many ways... but that'll come. To the end, first. And even if I know what that will be, I've been deeply surprised before. Like, the last finished chapter.
Had grated parmesan melted over whole wheat toast and an enormous handful of cherries for dinner. Yes, yes, produce is very good right now. Tomorrow I might try roughly the same with a combination of romano and mozzarella. Look out, I am dangerous with my fresh produce and breads and cheeses!
Will share relevant links at some later point. I'd like to get back to writing for now.
