My desk is currently covered in half-done things. Leather, yarn, thread and fleece are taking up all of the space not occupied by tea and action figures. This is not a problem. This is just an uncomfortable realization to be pushed aside. *snort*

So I'm still doing the leather thing, of course. Finally have a design I'd like to finish, despite its obvious roughness and clear inexperience--but I think that's part of its charm. Still needs to be smoothed out, colored and sealed, though, so I'll be waiting on the needed things to arrive. Still plenty of scrap to play with before I manage to get all "serious" and crap.

And there's another crocheted horror/masterpiece waiting. ...On buttons. Who orders two buttons over the internet? I do, of course. From Canada. They were very specific buttons.

And now some links. Because that is how it works. Sort of the games vs art debate again--but still along the same point I was making before. Observe:
"What is important here, is to remember that games are just different. They are different than any creative medium we have had before. You wouldn’t expect a literature critic who had never seen a movie before to have an in depth grasp of the finer parts of understanding film. Likewise, if you had only seen Uwe Boll movies your entire life, you’d be forgiven for thinking that cinema is a shit medium and that movies cannot be art. I conclude that it is therefore stupid to make an absolutist statement about the status of anything as art. Even Uwe Boll could make a good movie in the future that you thought was 'art' even if that is as likely as me turning into a lesbian and shacking up with Natalie Portman and her nice little Yorkshire Terrier Charlie."
The Evolution of PC Audio brings back a hell of a lot of memories. It's short, it's sweet, and if if affects you like it did me, it'll make you cringe when you think of how long it took to get your new sound cards to work.

Along the lines of audio, here's a very interesting look at the use of voice in video games.

And even better, an article on the importance of voice direction. I need to stop thinking about this for obvious reasons. I would go as far as to argue that acting, voice or otherwise, is even more important than the writing itself. I may have a little experience there, you see.

Bioshock's original pitch. I love shit like this. Fascinating, even if they are only revealing a few pages at a time.

The People Who Make Video Games Are Lying to You is fascinating on many levels. One, the hilarious quotes, but more than that is the artwork. Propaganda posters are freaky no matter what.

Best. Cosplay. Ever..? Of course I'd love to see a group of these.

Guilt and Gaming the Morning After. Not... quite sure I know how to react to this article besides, "Okay... and?" I guess some people are capable of guilt about it or something. *grin*

The Aesthetics of Unique Video Game Characters sort of makes me feel the same way as the above link. I mean, it's interesting and everything, but the moment someone is focused on bringing in "a wider audience" (a.k.a. "the womens"), I kind of start loosing interest immediately. Still, there is awesomeness here.

Now, obviously you know how I feel about games. But 5 Reasons It's Still Not Cool to Admit You're a Gamer deserves a read.

I know next to nothing about any Gundam series (by choice *snort*), but if this were available to buy, I don't see how I could resist it. Except for the price tag, of course. But... damn. No one makes delicious nightmare figures like that. Only Happy Little Elf Links. *mutter*

Kris Kuksi makes the kind of art I'd love to lose myself in. I see novels contained in a single image... so I'd better get back to writing.

The fact that I really enjoyed this, let alone am linking to it, proves that I may still be just a little bit of a TNG Trekkie. Just a little. Really. (Like the immediate thought, "Data can't come because he's dead." See, just a little bitter.)

And finally... this makes a geek-punk proud.

Damn do I need to get back to comments at some point soon. And commenting. It's going to happen. It is.

Wow. Do they at least spring open into shurikens when you press on both sides, or something comparable?
