Don't think me trite. Or trying to be a jerk. This is very important advice that I want to impart after some minor frustration. (One cannot properly yell over the internet.)

If you want to be a writer, write. No "blah blah blah education blah degree blah"--that comes later. That should not be your focus. If you want to be a writer, write.

If you want to be an artist, make art. Don't "blah blah well when I've studied under Blah McBlah and have a degree in blah"--you can do that later. That should not be your focus. If you want to be an artist, make art.

If you want to make music, make music. None of the "blah blah when I can afford a really great blah and study at the Blah Academy of Blah"--you can do that at some point, if you find that you really want to. That should not be your focus. If you want to be a musician, make music.

Do not, however, follow up exercises in the morning that involve weights and arms lifting said weights in various ways with an afternoon, evening and part of a night crocheting, because it really kind of hurts a lot. If someone ever gave me this advice, I have ignored you. And will probably ignore you again.

As you can see, giving advice and taking it are very different things.
